Web-based tools are really great, aren't they? We've experienced the same thing with Wrike. Almost 4 hours per week! We just love the technology!

David,
Funny thing is I'm not really an early adopter usually. I'm more of a fast follower on new technology. That combined with my *need* to declutter (yes I'm a neatnik) led me to give Apple TV a try not too long after it was launched.

I'm not yet an evangelist for Apple TV though. In fact, I haven't really tried to convince anyone else to buy it. However, I thought it was interesting that this activity we used to take for granted as a kid (flipping through family photo albums) had gone away, and for many people hasn't been replaced yet. For us, the photo screen saver on Apple TV is our twenty first century equivalent.

You may be right about the adoption of Apple TV (or some equivalent) in four years. Seems like Apple could take the product in some interesting directions and it will be fun to see which features click with people so that eventually "*everyone* gets it."

I had Tivo in 2002, way before almost anyone else. I fell in love with it (and DirecTV) when I moved to San Francisco and wanted to be able to watch Giants games and not miss whatever else was on TV that night. As hard as I tried to convince people that they absolutely *had* to have a Tivo, they just wouldn't bite. They didn't get that they were missing something.

Today, everyone on earth has a Tivo (or copycat DVR) and *everyone* gets it.

You are that guy today. People don't get AppleTV yet, but in four years, everyone will have an AppleTV. Period.

Well said. Presenting a fascinating problem to solve w/ good compensation is what will attract the right type.

A rock star ad would signal to me a company that will expect unrealistic amounts of work and use unendurable managerial pep-talk cliches (usually followed by a sad excuse for a paycheck).

Todd, want to let you know about a Basecamp add-on that you might find useful. It let's you export Basecamp projects to PDF for sharing, archiving or offline analysis.

Its called Export Reports.com and is, not surprisingly, at http://www.exportreports.com.

Its currently in Beta.
Hope you find it useful -and if you have any suggestions please do pass them on.
